Wage Rates - Horse and Greyhound Training Award 2020 (HGTA)

 

The ATA notifies Members of changes to the wage rates and provides exclusive website access to download related information.

Employee Wage Rates under the HGTA provide for various aspects of Employment:

  • Junior employees (Aged 15-20 Years)

  • Adult employees (Aged 21 Years+)

  • Fulltime Rates of pay

  • Part time rates of pay

  • Overtime rates of pay

  • Casual Rates of pay

  • Classification of employee

The employee wage rates need to be applied in accordance with the HGTA.

The award and/or wage rates may be varied at times; for example resulting from negotiation between the parties to the award or Wage Case or Standard Federal Minimum Wage review.

Clause 13.9 - National Training Wage

(a) Schedule E to the

Miscellaneous Award 2020

sets out the minimum wage rates and conditions for employees undertaking traineeships.

(b) This award incorporates the terms of schedule E to the

Miscellaneous Award 2020

as at 1 July 2019. Provided that any reference to “this award” in schedule E to the

Miscellaneous Award 2020

is to be read as referring to the

Horse and Greyhound Training Award 2020

 and not the

Miscellaneous Award 2020

.

The following is a summary of important requirements for Employers when applying the National Training Wage.

A Trainee is an employee undertaking a traineeship under a training contract. Traineeship means a system of training which has been approved by the relevant State or Territory training authority, which meets the requirements of a training package developed by the relevant Industry Skills Council and endorsed by the National Quality Council, and which leads to an AQF certificate level qualification.

The minimum wages for a trainee undertaking full-time AQF I-III traineeship is as follows:

 

E.4.3 Other minimum wage provision

 

(b) An employee who was employed by an employer immediately before becoming a trainee with that employer must not suffer a reduction in their minimum rate of pay because of becoming a trainee.

(c) for the purpose of determining whether a trainee has suffered a reduction as mentioned in paragraph (b), casual loadings are to be disregarded.
